No More Smelly Laundry!

No More Smelly Laundry!

January 3, 2022- S SAN FRANCISCO, CA - One of the most annoying things about doing a wash load of laundry is when it finishes with a smell that is unacceptable. There are several reasons why a wash load of linen and clothing may carry a bad smell after washing, including:

    1. Insufficient detergent: If not enough detergent is used, or if the detergent is not strong enough to remove the dirt and grime on the clothes, odors may linger.
    2. Overloading the washer: When too many items are packed into the washing machine, there may not be enough space for the water and detergent to penetrate all the fabrics, leading to incomplete cleaning and odors.
    3. Not using hot enough water: Hot water can help kill bacteria and other microorganisms that cause odors, so using warm or cold water may not be effective enough to fully clean and freshen clothes.
    4. Leaving clothes in the washer too long: If clothes are left in the washer for too long after the cycle has ended, they may start to develop a mildew or musty smell.
    5. Using a musty washing machine: If the washing machine itself has a musty smell, it can transfer that odor to the clothes being washed.

To avoid these issues, it's important to use the correct amount and type of detergent, avoid overloading the washing machine, use hot water when appropriate, promptly removing linen and clothing from the washer, and keeping the washing machine clean and well-maintained. A laundry detergent product like VASKA HERBATERGENT HE Lavender Liquid Laundry Detergent is always a good choice. Additionally, using a fabric softener like VASKA Commercial HERBASOFT Fabric Softener or SNUGGLE brand liquid fabric softener, or a special odor-eliminating product like NILODOR NILIUM Water Soluble Concentrated Deodorizer may help freshen clothes and linens. If odors persist despite these efforts, it may be necessary to deep clean the washing machine.
